Ready-To-Wear Is Officially Ready To Wear

Prep your credit card this Wednesday to swipe fashion history

For a long time, ready-to-wear collections that went down the runways didn’t mean that at all: They were only ready to be worn much later, months after being shown; after merchandisers had indicated their interest and placed their orders; and certainly after the clothes’ initial impact had faded.

Of late, however, designers have changed up their schedules to accommodate to some extent the see now, want now, buy now mentality of shoppers. Fendi made a limited-edition Strap You accessory available directly after its Spring-Summer 2016 show last year, while Versace did the same with its Palazzo bags.

But perhaps the biggest effort yet is the one to come from Michael Kors this Wednesday, when the label shows its Fall 2016 collection.

Not only will you be able to watch it live-streamed here at 11pm (Singapore time) from New York City plus see user-generated content on the site tagged #AllAccessKors, you’ll also be able to buy up select styles from the show right away. The edit, entitled Ready-to-Wear, Ready to Go, will include clothes, shoes and handbags.

Says Kors, “Our customer doesn’t think in terms of seasons, she just thinks about what works for her life and what she’s in love with. I thought it would be a great idea to give her the opportunity to sprinkle some key items from the runway into her current wardrobe.”

We couldn’t agree more. Happy shopping, girls!
