After Uniqlo announced its upcoming collaboration with former Hermes designer Christophe Lemaire in March, the fashion set has been on the edge of its seat, waiting for a peek at the results.
Now the first photos, lensed by Alasdair McLellan, are out – and they’re a perfect fit. Both Uniqlo’s and Lemaire’s sensibilities come through in the comfortable knits and simple silhouettes, and the marriage of the Japanese brand’s back-to-basics style and the Frenchman’s pared-down luxury and timeless, anti-fashion aesthetic make for some beautiful classics.
“Basic is an overused term in fashion, but at the end of the day, it’s quite true, quite right. Pieces that you need, pieces that you want – that’s what we tried to do,” said Lemaire of the collaboration. He co-designed the range with Sarah-Linh Tran, his partner (in life and work).
The entire collection spans 30 items for women and 25 for men. While no specific date has been given for the Singapore drop, what we do know is that the international launch is scheduled for early October. Ready, set, queue.
Uniqlo Singapore has released few more details. The collection will range from $29.90 to $269.90, and will be available in October only at the Ion Orchard store and online.
