Ever the philanthropist, U2 frontman Bono, along with his wife Ali Hewson, set up Edun to encourage trade in Africa. Despite some hurdles (business wasn’t doing so well between 2007 and 2008), the brand has established itself as a frontrunner in sustainable fashion. Doesn’t hurt that the pieces are really chic too.

Seven7 by Melissa McCarthy

When it comes to celebrity-own fashion labels, you’d usually expect it to be backed by former teen icons or reality TV stars. Which was why we were so surprised to find Seven7, founded by comedian Melissa McCarthy! The label brings well-made and modern separates to plus-size women, with sizes going up to 3XL. The Melissa McCarthy site itself doesn’t ship internationally, so shop the brand at multi-label sites like Nordstrom.

In addition to music, acting and modelling (or all three for overachievers), many celebs also have a hand in the fashion industry. Well-known brands like Victoria Beckham’s eponymous label and Kanye West’s Yeezy line aside, here are six lesser-known celeb-owned fashion labels that are equally worth shopping at.
