Since the news broke that Rihanna would be joining Puma as its new women’s creative director and brand ambassador, we’ve been waiting eagerly for her first collection. Now, the wait is finally over - and boy was it worth it.
Inspired by the punk era and its influence on the club scene in the ’80s, Rihanna has transformed Puma’s iconic Suede sneaker into its cooler cousin, the Puma Creeper. The Creeper features an elevated platform sole (so this is definitely not for running in) and will be available in three colourways.
“I am so excited to finally introduce the Puma Creeper to the world,” says Rihanna. “Partnering with Puma has given me the opportunity to create pieces that are unique and unexpected. I really wanted to dig into their archive and give classic silhouettes my own spin. The Puma Creeper is just that.”
Besides designing the sweet kicks, Rihanna was also the creative director for the campaign shoot, featuring herself and rapper (and rumoured beau) Travi$ Scott looking way too cool for school.
As with any celebrity-brand collaboration, be sure to act fast — pre-orders for the Puma Creeper sold out within hours in the US.
The Puma Creeper, $189, will be available at Leftfoot from 25 September.
