Why Are People Applying 100 Coats Of Foundation?

There’s a very good reason

Okay, we’re lying. Like many, many other Internet fads, there’s really no good reason for this strange new trend that’s been going viral on YouTube.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining to watch. A quick search for “100 Coats of…” brings up countless videos, where beauty gurus and YouTube comedians alike apply 100 coats of foundation, liquid lipstick, nail polish, and other beauty products on themselves for hours on end, filming the process and posting it up online.

Why? Well, as with anything on the Internet, why not?

This all started with YouTube’s nail community. Manicurists and nail experts started applying hundreds of coats of nail polish, creating what’s known as #PolishMountain. The rest of the world caught up, and the Pandora’s Box of Insane Ideas birthed forth many other equally fascinating variations. Here are some of our favourites:

JennaMarbles, one of the most renowned YouTubers, went all the way and did 100 layers of foundation, fake tan, falsies, liquid lipstick, hairspray and nail polish. Hilarity ensues.

We’re not sure what’s more disturbing — the Kylie Jenner lip challenge from last year or 100 coats of liquid lipstick.

If anyone ever tells you your foundation looks cakey, show them this video.

Now these are spider lashes.
