We love a ’90s nude lip as much as the next person, but when we want something a little more sultry than subtle for a night out, there’s nothing like dark, vampy lippie.
If you’ve always wanted to try the trend out but don’t necessarily want to run out to buy almost-black lipstick, we’ve got just the makeup hack for you. You can just darken any lipstick you have at home — all you need is a black eyeliner pencil.
Here’s how it works:
Moisturise your lips with lip balm.
Apply an even and thin layer of black eyeliner on your lips, blending it out a little as you go.
Apply any lipstick on top. It should appear darker than it usually does.
You can also use black eyeshadow by mixing it with your lipstick on a makeup palette — but that’s definitely a much messier and troublesome approach. Something else to note, this most likely won’t work for liquid lipsticks, which are usually opaque and are less easy to blend.
This trick is great for days where you want to transition your lip colour from day to night, or even to test which shade (blood red or purple-y berry, etc.) of dark lippie suit you best. Plus, it really is as easy as it sounds. Try it out tonight before hitting the town for TGIF!
