As I near 30, my skin is definitely not like it was in my early 20s. An exfoliation and mask doesn’t cure all, and any lack of sleep is as obvious as topographical lines on a map. Ageing, of course, has everything to do with it. Everything (except time) slows down. And that includes skin renewal.
Before I started using the Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate (I hear actress Nicole Kidman is a fan of this stuff), I was dealing with post-travel skin issues. Two weeks after returning from France, my skin was still dehydrated, rough and lacklustre.
So one night, straight after cleansing, I used two drops of the peel concentrate before my usual serums and cream. I know what you’re thinking when you hear the word “peel”. But I’m happy to report that my sensitive skin didn’t experience any sort of burning, stinging or layers of skin coming off.
When I woke up the next morning, my skin was definitely softer and smoother. There was no downtime at all! My makeup went on better and my colleagues commented on my new-found glow.
If you haven’t used a peel before, this is great for beginners. Unlike other peels that include AHA, acids or enzymes, the one from Kiehl’s is chock-full of quinoa husk and fruit extracts for a gentle treatment. Slowly but surely, it helps dead skin cells fall away. Other benefits include increase cell turnover, a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, and a radiance boost. Call me a convert already.
$99, Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate is available from July. For now, you can get your hands on complimentary samples at any Kiehl’s store.
