Supermodel Joan Smalls is everywhere. On top of being a Victoria’s Secret angel, the 27-year-old Puerto Rican has been walking the runways and fronting fashion campaigns.
Though she’s busy, her skin is still glowing and we hear she tries to get at least a good eight to 10 hours of shut eye. Is beauty sleep the secret to the Estee Lauder spokesmodel’s radiant complexion? Read on to discover the early riser’s nightly routine and her secrets to getting a good night’s sleep.
What is your nightly beauty routine?
I make sure my face is clean before lathering on moisturiser and eye cream, with a mix of the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair all over my face and neck. Lately I've also been putting a dab of Castor Oil on my eye brows – I read it's good for conditioning.
Do you have any tips for getting a good night's sleep?
I work out in the afternoon so my body is tired and ready to recover from the work out at night.
How do you like to relax before bed?
I pray and give thanks for another day.
Do you have a night-time routine?
I try to stretch before.
What is your idea of a perfect night?
It is going to sleep as early as 9pm and not having to put an alarm on to wake me up. Then letting my body wake up when it feels like it. I roll in bed for a couple minutes saying positive affirmations before putting my feet on the floor.
What is the best advice you have received on getting a good night’s sleep?
My mother always says lavender helps. And to smell lavender oil to relax.
Any tips on how to look rested when you don’t get much sleep?
To look rested, curl your lashes and apply a good amount of mascara. It makes your eyes look wider.
When you travel across different time zones, how do you keep skin hydrated on the plane?
I apply moisturiser all over a clean face mid-flight.
