Look Better In Less Than 60 Seconds

Strapped for time? Try these beauty hacks now

No small talk here because we’ve all got schedules to keep. Here are the five ways to look better in less than a minute, seriously.

#1 Do a quickie facial

One of our go-to products for reviving lacklustre skin in the morning or before a big event is the Ren Flash Rinse One Minute Facial, $48. Yup, you read that right – one minute. Slather a generous amount of the product onto your face and neck, add a small amount of water with your fingertips and massage to activate the formula. Leave on for a minute (we usually make our coffee while waiting) and rinse off to reveal a smoother and brighter complexion.

#2 Skip contouring

If you don’t have time to blend, blend and blend, strobe instead. The technique is all about reflecting light in the right places to bring focus and shape to your face. Here’s how: Use a highlighter (try Yves Saint Laurent Beaute’s Touche Eclat, $59, or Burberry’s Fresh Glow Highlighting Luminous Pen, $54) on areas where light would naturally hit the face – like the centre of the forehead, brow bones, cheekbones, bridge of the nose, tip of the chin, and Cupid’s bow.

#3 Wear a bright lippie

We’ve never seen anyone wearing a bright lip colour and in a bad mood (not yet, anyway). Not only can a bright lipstick lift your mood, the right shade can brighten your complexion too. Finding a colour that complements your skin tone is trial and error, but once you’ve found your favourite bright, a slick is all it’ll take for an instant wake-up.

#4 Pinch along your jawline

Some drink coffee and rub ice cubes on their face to de-puff skin. But we usually try to squeeze in a DIY massage if possible. The quick fix: Pinch along your jawline with firm pressure using your fingers and thumbs. This is great for promoting lymphatic drainage as that’s where all the toxic build-up is.

#5 Apply some blush

Blusher is one thing that seems to make everyone look good. It instantly gives the face some colour (see: a natural flush) and the right shade can really warm up your complexion for a healthy glow. If you have fair skin, opt for a pale pink or peachy shade. For medium skin tones, try a blush in a mauve or apricot hue. For tan skin, go for bright orange or raisin blushers.
