Nick Barose has made a name for himself as the go-to makeup artist for gorgeous, radiant skin. Names who have benefited from his know-how include Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Mara - and now you can add yours to the list, too. Here's some advice from the man himself on how to recreate that glowy, red-carpet-ready look in the comfort of your own home.

1. Start from skincare

“This makes sure the skin is soft and supple. To get a beautiful glow, you can’t rely on makeup alone. Kick off with good hydration, like a mask or a moisturiser that isn’t greasy." A good one to try is the Skin Inc Get Glowin' Brightening Mask that leaves complexion luminous in just 10 minutes.

2. Use a light highlighter

“If you like, mixing something like Armani Fluid Sheer into your foundation helps give extra luminosity.”

3. Work with liquid foundation

“Because it feels more like skin. Use it sparingly so you can still see your skin peeking through the foundation — I love the Beauty Blender sponge as it allows you to blend a small amount of product without looking cakey.”

4. Go easy on the powder

“It can make makeup look heavy. In this hot climate, you always want to keep skin on the matte side while still looking natural. So pick a powder that’s more sheer and brush it over areas that usually get shiny like the T-zone, instead of the entire face.”

5. Wear blush

“Some people don't like this, but I feel a little bit of colour on the apples always brings life back to the skin as foundation can make your skin look flat. Bringing some colour back will make it look healthier.”
