ELLE Review: Nars Audacious Mascara

Length, volume and long-lasting curl in one — this is the mascara you should own

THE HYPE: A mascara to take lashes from blah to wow because, as François Nars, founder and creative director of Nars, has said, “Anything less than audacious is boring.” The wand is an exclusive design that has over 200 molded bristles and lengthening hooks that promise to catch every lash — yes, even the shortest and tiniest ones, and coat them in an intense black hue for envy-worthy lashes in an instant.

THE PROS: I’m a huge mascara fan and am always on the quest for the best mascara for my straight, skinny lashes. So of course when this was introduced, it got me all kinds of excited. The wand is really quite ingenious, and I’m happy to report that it does the job really well. It made my lashes look lush and beautifully curled, while separating and defining them perfectly. Best bit? No clumps. Love that it was easy to remove at the end of the day, and didn’t smudge as badly as I thought it would for a water-resistant formula.

THE CONS: Even though it didn’t smudge, I still would prefer to use a mascara that comes with a waterproof formula, what with Singapore’s humid weather. I also would have loved a fuller finish for that extreme lash look. You know, audacious.

$40. At Nars counters.
