ELLE Review: Ice’s Secret Pure Radiance Mask

Never mind the tacky name, this is a product that really gets the job done

The hype

An overnight mask that doesn’t just leave skin soft and smooth but also promises a porcelain clear complexion in the morning. Formulated with botanical extracts like white mulberry root, kudzu root, magnolia tree bark, peony root, aloe vera, strawberry begonia and lavender essential oil, it’s supposed to help lighten pesky pigmentation, sun spots and acne scars when used over time too.

The pros

This really and truly brightens the skin. Besides giving me an even skin tone, even my blemish scars looked lighter and less obvious. Skin was smooth and felt velvety soft to the touch. Makeup application was also a breeze and there seemed to be a “lit-from-within” glow that drew compliments from my colleagues.

The lightweight texture dries quickly so it feels like you’ve got nothing on. It also doesn’t budge while you sleep, so you don’t have to worry about messy pillowcases.

And while it’s meant to be an overnight mask, who’s to say you can’t slather it on, on the day of a big event? Just apply and leave on for 20 minutes before washing off, for instant radiance.

The cons

As the mask does brighten the skin tone a fair bit, you might want to use an eye brightener at the same time to ensure that your dark under-eye circles don’t end up looking too prominent in comparison (though we hear you can use this on the delicate eye area to lighten dark circles too).

Using this as an overnight mask can also be a little drying, so slather on a hydrating serum before you apply the mask and head off to bed.
