ELLE Review: Chanel Rouge Double Intensité

Finally, a lip colour that lasts - even through a meal and more

The hype

A long-lasting liquid lipstick on one end and a glossy top coat on the other, both of which are supposed to give you a gorgeous pout all day. Also promises to keep lips moisturised while ensuring that the colour stays put, with no transferring or feathering.

The pros

This really, really lasts. The creamy base colour goes on smoothly and looks like a lip stain, even with just one coat. Adding the glossy top coat gives lips a brilliant shine and the appearance of a fuller pout. It also helps keep lips hydrated. And while the high-shine finish might not last through a meal, the base colour stays on. It’s great if you don't like to do constant touch-ups.

The cons

As with many long-lasting, budge-proof products, removal can be a little tricky. Unless you’ve had particularly greasy meals, this is going to still be there at the end of the day. But an oil-based makeup remover should be able to clean everything away.

Also, using the base colour on its own can be a little drying if you have naturally dry lips, and it can also emphasise the lines on your lips. So it’s best if you scrub your puckers to get rid of any dry flakes and moisturise them with a lip balm at night before bed so that you’ll have soft lips the next day, which makes for an even and smooth application.
