3 Beauty Essentials You Need While Pokémon Hunting

Especially if you're planning to catch 'em all this National Day

With Pokémon Go as the latest gaming hit in Singapore (it launched out of the blue last Saturday to my delight), I don’t blame you if you want to spend the National Day public holiday exploring Singapore and hunting for some Pokémon.

And unless you’re hunting from the comfort of your own home (you lucky person!), things might get hot and sweaty. After all, the game encourages users to get moving and you will have to especially if you want your Pokémon eggs to hatch.

So before I go on my journey (I hear there is a Pikachu at Universal Studios Singapore), here are three beauty essentials you should take with you on your hunt. Besides that portable battery pack, that is.

#1 Sunscreen

While we are all busy on the lookout for a Poké stop with lures, remember to save your skin from the sun. A sunscreen is all it takes to up your anti-ageing game and protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Don your visor and prep your skin, because the last thing you would want is to get is sun spots.

Medical director of The Sloane Clinic Dr Low Chai Ling recommends applying the amount of two tablespoons of sunscreen to the exposed areas of the face and body. Sunscreen needs to be reapplied every two hours, or more frequently after heavy perspiration or towelling off.

#2 Facial mist

Did you know that heat can cause skin to prematurely age? South Korean beauty brand Sulwhasoo has discovered that besides UV rays, heat from the Infrared Rays that is also present in sunlight can lower antioxidant levels in skin, which leads to dulling of skin tone and even yellowing. So before reaching for that skin soothing sheet mask at night, my quick fix in the day for keeping skin fresh and cool is to generously spritz on some facial mist, as and when needed.

#3 Headband

You might want to use this beauty accessory to push your bangs back. Forehead acne can be caused by the constant contact between your hair and skin. This “action” mixes hair styling products with sweat and dust on your face, causing breakouts. So get your strands away from you face, and happy hunting.
