How many photos of your friends lovingly cradling either the new iPhone 6S or 6S Plus have you seen on your Facebook feed recently? More than a few, we bet.
After all, over 13 million units were sold worldwide just three days after the 25 September launch, which saw long lines of people queuing to buy the phones here. (Nothing like a new toy to get people into the haze, eh?)
And if you think that’s a lot, wait till 9 October, when both beauties will start selling in 40 more countries including Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Taiwan.
At first glance, there’s little to distinguish both phones from their predecessors. But play around with either and you’ll see why these new incarnations have already been touted as the best iPhones, ever. Here are three of our top reasons.
1. 3D Touch
Previously known as Force Touch, this feature enhances the iPhone’s revolutionary Multi-Touch™ interface by sensing how deeply you press the display. This lets you do essential things more quickly. For instance, press a little harder on an app icon, and you’ll conjure up a dropdown box menu of quick actions. Want to send a reply to the email you just read? Apply some pressure to the screen and zip straight to typing.
2. Photos that come to life
With this new camera mode, you can watch your still images come to life. How? Just tap on the Live Photos icon when in the Photo setting of the Camera app and you’ll automatically get not just a photo you’ve snapped, but a short movie as well. Great for Snapchat.
3. Gorgeous skins
Both phones come designed with the strongest glass on any smartphone and 7000 series aluminium (an alloy also used in the aerospace industry). They’re also dressed in gorgeous metallic hues: Silver, gold, space gray and the exquisite new rose gold, which reminds us of a glass of rosé.
The iPhone 6S retails for $1,048 (including GST) for the 16GB model, $1,218 (including GST) for the 64GB model and $1,388 (including GST) for the 128GB model.
The iPhone 6S Plus goes for $1,218 (including GST) for the 16GB model, $1,388 (including GST) for the 64GB model and $1,558 (including GST) for the 128GB model.
