We can’t get enough of our August 2016 cover girl Yoyo Cao’s OOTD posts, glowing skin and crazy perfect tresses that never seem to slip out of place (seriously – we once saw her after a long-haul flight looking as put-together as she had been before boarding). Which is why we couldn’t help but ask her how she keeps her skin and hair looking so healthy despite her hectic schedule. We expected her to list a slew of products in reply (which we admit, we planned to speed off and buy, post-interview). But surprise – her answers were nothing like what we’d predicted. Ahead, Cao’s shockingly simple secrets to maintaining her luscious skin and hair.
Every morning: I always drink a cup of warm lemon water. Then I’ll chill, watch some news or go online.
Skin hack: I’m Cantonese so I drink a lot of soup. I also eat a lot of fruits, and drinking lemon water every morning helps with keeping my skin healthy.
Skincare routine: I start by cleansing my skin with Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, followed by Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. In the mornings, I use a Cle de Peau Beaute eye cream and Le Serum, before moisturising with the La Prairie Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluide Pure Gold.
I don’t usually go for facials but I use Skin Inc’s Pure Revival Peel regularly. It’s sufficient to remove my dead skin cells and has an instant brightening effect. I’m big on taking care of my own skin.
When it comes to masking, I’m very hardworking. I use a mask – sheet, gel or leave-on – every alternate day. Masks are great for refreshing tired skin too.
Travel essentials: Kiehl’s Creme de Corps body moisturiser and Crème de La Mer. I also take the Swiss Plus lip balm and Fresh hand cream.
I haven’t permed or dyed my hair before. I don’t use hair masks or serums. I just use a normal shampoo and conditioner.
