The Best Beauty Looks At London Fashion Week Spring 2017

A.k.a. the ones to copy now

Victoria Diplacido: This is my aesthetic — the casually elegant headband, the earring, the barely-there makeup courtesy of Val Garland. (That lip is a combination of NARS Belle de Jour Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and Bansar Satin Lip Pencil, should you be wondering.) My favourite show of the Spring/Summer 2017 season thus far.

Katherine Flemming: To see the back end of perfect braids warms is this week’s highest high. Mussed up twists are the way to my beauty heart.

VDP: After giving the longtime exclusive to bronzer, I’m finally here for blush.

KF: Peach blush and spring beauty go together like white wine and work lunches.

VDP: Should this not convince you to give red lipstick the old college try, may we convince you here.

KF: A statement/bold/bright lip will almost always make me happy. And nothing looks better coming down the runway.

VDP: Air dried hair is reprised in London – hurrah! Calling this as the one spring/summer 20017 trend I will actually be able commit to.

KF: Makeup artist Wendy Rowe sculpted models’ cheeks in an anti-contour fashion that I can get down with. I’m all for air-dried hair, just don’t find it to be a realistic message WHATSOEVER.

VDP: Makeup artist Lucia Pieroni said this boyish look was "accentuated by an ashy smudged eye inspired by World War II when women wore no makeup and used cigarette ash to give their eyes definition.” We don’t recommend using that, however. Use Pieroni’s tool of choice for the job: NARS Velvet Shadow Stick in Reykjavik.

KF: Androgynous beauty remains a strong message for Spring 2017. While I can appreciate it on 18-year-old poreless models, I do not think my face can handle such a prominent sideburn.

Julien Macdonald

VDP: The lesson here: why should dewy skin stop at the neck, when your legs are be highlighted until gleaming as well?

KF: I’ve never been so self-conscious about my matte clavicle.

VDP: Who wants to wear blue eyeshadow in 2016? Not me, or so I thought. Then I saw the Victoria Beckham show, and this happened. Viva la teal.

KF: Coating lids in crisp colour isn’t normally the most appealing look for me (not my aesthetic), but slight shimmery finish on this felt really new—so I approve.

VDP: Bookmark under Halloween Outfits 2016. (What is the costume, you ask? A hippie! An expensive floral arrangement! The beauty before the allergy hits! The options are endless, really.)

KF: Leave it to boundary-pushing London to create 3-D floral appliques all over the models’ faces. High maintenance and absolutely brilliant.

Topshop Unique

VDP: Topshop shows always make me feel like I could be 21 and look supremely wonderful with my hair pushed up over to the side, but alas, I am not and it does not. I will borrow the idea of volume, if not the combover-esque style.

KF: This '90s hair flip feels very Sweet Valley High surfer dropout. Which is a good thing.

If the city of eccentric beauty is any indication, we'll be sporting floral lips, gleaming skin and air-dried hair next spring (but hey, feel free to start now).
